Built to be trusted with the numbers
Extraction is only useful if you can tell when it is wrong. That single constraint shaped everything below.
A confidence score on every field, not one score per document
Extraction that is right 95% of the time is only useful if you can tell which 5% to check. Every value — merchant, date, tax, total, each line item — carries its own score. When a required field lands below threshold the document is marked "needs review" rather than filed silently, so the failure mode is a two-second glance instead of a wrong number in your VAT return three months later.
Tax handled as data, not as text on an image
VAT amount, tax rate, and the supplier's tax registration number are captured as their own fields. That is what makes a VAT summary a query rather than a spreadsheet you rebuild by hand each quarter, and it is why bilingual Gulf receipts were a design constraint here rather than an afterthought.
Search that reads the contents, not the filename
Find the supermarket receipt from May over 500 without remembering what the file was called. Filter by category, tag, supplier, date range, or document type, and combine them. Nothing depends on you having named or foldered anything correctly at upload time.
Your phone is the scanner
The camera flow runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated. Multi-page documents stay together as one record. A native app with offline queueing is on the roadmap, but it is an improvement on this, not a prerequisite for it.
A plain-language summary beside the structured fields
Every document gets a sentence describing what it is, alongside the extracted values. It is the difference between a list of forty filenames and a list you can actually skim.
Export that assumes you might leave
CSV and Excel out of the box, and the original file is always kept next to the extracted data. There is no format here that only DocZea can read, and no step where the original is discarded once the numbers are pulled out.
What gets read, and what gets filed
Stated plainly, because 'supports all document types' usually means classification only — and finding that out after uploading a year of paperwork is the expensive way to learn it.

Currencies, in full
Amounts keep the currency they were issued in. Totals are never silently added across currencies, because a number that mixes SAR and USD is worse than no number.
